Preventative

Digital X-Ray (reduces radiation up to 80%)

These are so great! They reduce radiation up to 80% and you see them instantly! They can be retaken immediately if what we want to see isn't clear enough or another view would be better. And we can show you your teeth on a large view screen.

Preventative Cleanings

These are generally cleanings above the gums and can be done well in one appointment.

Periodontal Cleanings

These are special for people with gum disease so you can stop it's progression and help the gums heal. There is a Mayo Clinic study that found that people with all of their teeth live an average of 10 years longer! The bacteria found in gum disease (under and around the gums) has been linked to heart attacks and strokes. When you gums bleed, it isn't good for you. A regular cleaning done by a great hygienist can SAVE YOUR LIFE!

Oral Cancer Screenings

We do very thorough oral cancer screenings in our office. Both the Hygienist and the Doctor check for this - 4 eyes are better than 2.

Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride is important for ADULTS and children. Children benefit the most from fluoride in the water. The fluoride treatment for children, applied in soft trays over the teeth helps to keep the outside of the tooth stronger.. Fluoride applied to the outside of the tooth will help adults by strengthening the outside enamel and in between the teeth and at the gumline.

Sealants for Prevention of Decay

These are clear or white plastic coatings in the grooves of the back teeth. These grooves are generally deep and smaller than the size of a toothbrush bristle. By putting sealants on the back teeth you can prevent decay bacteria getting into the grooves on the TOPS of the back teeth. They last 3-10 years. We warranty our sealants for 3 years as long as you come in every 6 months so we can be sure they are working well!

Blood Pressure Screenings

We check your Blood Pressure every time you get your teeth cleaned at no charge. This can save your life! We had a patient in and her Blood Pressure was really high for her. She said "It's always high here". The Hygienist said "Not that high, you better have a doctor check it." She went to her doctor the next day and they said if you hadn't gotten here soon you would be dead within a week.

Intra-Oral Camera Screenings

You get to see your teeth on TV. You don't have to be a dentist sometimes to see things that could be helped or that you would like to improve. This way You Get To See What We See.

Sleep Apnea / Snoring

Recently we have taken continued training to be a dental sleep medicine practitioner.   The American Academy of Sleep Medicine has requested dentists to help treat snoring and sleep apnea  with oral appliances [kind of like retainers ] that are connected together to slowly bring the lower jaw forward and open the airway when sleeping.  Sleep Apnea [you actually stop breathing for at least 10 seconds many times during the night] can be a contributing factor to/ or cause of high blood pressure, acid reflux, diabetes, early heart attack and stroke.   The exciting thing is with the necessary tests and diagnosis, medical insurance can help cover this treatment.  The Oral Appliance can be used to treat snoring and mild to moderate sleep apnea and for people who can't wear C-PAP.

Laser Tooth Inspection (Diagnodent)

The smallest spot of decay may mean trouble for your teeth.  That's why we use a special new laser technology to find cavities.  In the past we found cavities with a poking instrument which moved around the tooth checking and pushing in the grooves --This method is only 50-75% successful. Cavities hide in the grooves especially in the back teeth.  This method only finds cavities the size of the poking instrument or larger.  For this reason we utilize a Diagnodent to detect cavities in the teeth that do not have fillings yet.

Diagnodent uses a laser diode to compare healthy tooth areas with softened non healthy tooth.  It stimulates emission of a different  fluorescent wavelength.  A reading of 10-15 indicates enamel softening and should be monitored closely.   16-100 indicates decay that should be filled.  The diagnodent technology allows us to catch decay very early  so we treat your teeth very conservatively.  If we find decay early when the fillings are small we can save more of your tooth.  We can also monitor suspicious areas without repeated x-rays.

Gum Disease

Treatment and

Prevention

Cleanings for Gum Disease to help slow down and stop the progress of the disease and improve bone health.

Deep Cleaning and Root Scaling - special cleaning that is focused on areas where gum disease is NOT improving, getting worse or has never been treated. It is a very, very thorough cleaning below the gums where disease has caused inflammation of tartar to build up on the roots of the teeth.

We do computerized evaluations of the gum disease areas every cleaning to make sure you are improving and NOT getting worse.

Filling Choices

Crowns

Caps made to go over a tooth with large weak fillings or broken corners. It is made to cover a tooth like a hat on your head.

Tooth Replacement

Bridges

When a tooth is missing a type of replacement can involve using the tooth in front and back of the space to help hold in a porcelain or plastic tooth so there isn't a space anymore.

Implants

Tiny titanium screws like they use in knees and hips that fuse to the bone and we can put crowns or caps on them. They are very strong and chew very well.

Orthodontics

Clear Braces (Invisalign)

Clear trays that fit around your teeth to slowly move them and make your smile great.

Cosmetics

Smile Design - Lets see what might look great for you.

  • Is it less gum showing?

Whitening - Different ways to whiten teeth.

  • Power Whitening - Uses the light in the office and the trays at home together.
  • Home Whitening - Uses special trays made custom for your mouth that can be used again when you feel you need a "touch up".
  • White Strips - These cost the least, take more time and do a good job on most teeth. The ones we have are three time stronger than the drug store ones.

Veneers - You may have heard of Lumineers - This is like a porcelain fingernail that covers the tooth and is bonded to it.
