Root Canals

Root canals have a reputation for being painful. With the exception of extreme cases, this is no longer the case. Advanced dental technologies and Drs. McGarry and Shultz have made a root canal procedure as stress- and pain-free as possible. Some baby teeth may need a pulpotomy which is removing a little of the nerve while it is really numb and placing special medication in that area.

So how do you know if you need one? Well, are you having recurring trouble with a tooth? Do you have severe pain when you chew and apply pressure to it? Is your tooth sensitive to hot or cold? Is there swelling, tenderness or a bump on the gums near that tooth?

Sounds like you may be in need of a root canal.

The “root canal” is actually the word used to describe the hollow space that is in the center of the tooth. A root canal procedure removes the nerve (which may be dead if infected) and then put a sealer in the hollow center of the tooth.   Once the area is cleaned and properly prepared, the tooth may be protected with a crown for extra strength if needed.

“My experience was the greatest. My son with NO insurance needed a root canal. That was $3000 dollars he didn’t have and I didn’t want to give him. They worked with him and did a plan that worked for him and myself. The detail they went into explaining his damage & what could happen was in terms we could easily understand. I’m so very surprised at the one bad review, he must have been having a really bad day or is just an extremely negative person. I can’t imagine that happening to any one that walked into Dr. McGarry’s office. If I didn’t like my dentist so much I would change to Dr. McGarry for certain. I would highly recommend them for the youngest to the most elderly of family and friends.”
